Lent: The Season of Awakening.
The season of Lent is once again upon us. Lent begins with Ash-Wednesday (
Lent consist of forty days observances of prayer and fasting. Essentially, it is when the individual Christian imitates Jesus’ withdrawal into the wilderness for forty days. Lent is a season of soul searching and reflection; a season of stock taking to see how we are measuring up to our calling as Christians.
During Lent, we are to reflect on what needs to be changed in our lives, if we are to be faithful Christians. The season calls us to repent and to rededicate ourselves to God.
Lent should awaken life in our mind, bodies and spirit. Just as spring awakens life in the earth, we too must be awaked and tune in with God to allow the indwelling Christ to do His will in our lives.
I encourage all Christians, and more in particular, members of the Church to take this season’s observances very seriously and participate in the Lenten programs, which are:
1).Wednesdays at 7:00 pm. Mass and Reflection. (Exploring The I Ams statement of Jesus in John). What does this "I am" statement mean? How does it apply to us today?
2). Fridays at 7:00 pm. - The Way of the Cross.
Aim: Exploring The "I Am" statement of Jesus. (The Deity of Jesus).
What does the "I Am" statement mean? How does it apply to me today?
I pray that the Lenten season will provide us with motivation to resurrect the Christ consciousness, to bring us to have closer relationships with God and our neighbor.
Let us get it right with God and delight in His will, and walk with Him.
May God richly bless us always, Amen..
Your Priest in Charge, Rev. Canon Fred.
