Congratulations to Rev. Canon Frederick Opare- Addo!
‘’And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.”Romans 8:28
It is with profound joy and gracious admiration that we congratulate the Rev. Father Frederick Opare-Addo on his recent elevation to Honorary Canon. According to a written communication of January 10, 2009, the Rt. Rev Daniel Sylvanus Adotei Allotey, Bishop of Cape Coast, Ghana appointed our own Rev. Fr. Fred to this prominent status. The communication further states, it is mandated that the Dean of Christ Church Cathedral officiate the installation at that Cathedral. Travel plans are forthcoming.
Rev. Fr. Fred is richly deserving of this recognition, as he continues his long years of distinguishable and exemplarily service to God and his church families.Again, on behalf of the congregation, the Wardens, and Bishop’s Committee, we offer our prayers and highest regard to Rev Canon Frederick Opare-Addo on this sacred and prestigious appointment.
Rt. Reverend Orris G. Walker, Jr.
Diocesan Bishop of Long Island
“I am the good shepherd and I know My sheep, and am known by my own.”
The Rt. Rev. Orris G. Walker, Jr. Bishop of Long Island will grace us with his presence on June 1,2008, when he makes his pastoral visit to The Church of Holy Apostles.
Our Pastor, Rev. Fr. Frederick Opare-Addo, the Wardens, the Bishop’s committee and the entire congregation extend a gracious invitation to all church members, family and friends to attend a 10:00am. morning celebration of the Eucharist by Bishop Walker. Come and listen to his inspirational words and receive a special blessing. Hear the call of the Shepherd and let us celebrate with each other.
As you are all aware, Bishop Walker is in his planning stage of his retirement and this may be his last official visit to Holy Apostles. Therefore, let us make this occasion a grand and rewarding spiritual event. From all indication, it promises to be a solemn and momentous ceremony. After service, a light breakfast will be served and we will all have the opportunity to meet the Bishop informally during this fellowship.
We are the Church of the Holy Apostles: we know ours and ours know us. We know how to rejoice. So let us come out on the morning of June 1, 2008 to rejoice in the name and glory of Jesus Christ, our personal savior.
We would like to welcome Reverend Frederick Opare-Addo (Fr. Fred) as our new priest. Fr. Fred and his family joined us for his first service on February 4th, 2007. We were greeted by his energetic and moving sermon. His enthusiasm shows the strength of his beliefs. The entire congregation looks forward to his spiritual guidance and to us all getting to know each other better over the next few months. We all will work together to maintain and improve the beautiful close-knit community that is Holy Apostles. We look forward to building an excellent relationship with Fr. Fred as he gets acclimated to the unique qualities of our small church in the Slope. We know that God will guide him as we travel together on our journey to grow and use our lives to emulate the will of Christ. We are excited to have Fr. Fred in our holy family and expect that we will cherish him, as we have grown to cherish our last presiding priest, Fr. Eddie Alleyne. We are proud to announce, though sad to see him go, that Fr. Alleyne has earned thehonor to pursue a higher calling.
